STRANDS
Day 16 of 30 days of WhateverIFeelLikeWriting.
I read somewhere, "the strongest rope is woven by many strands".
It made me wonder if the rope thinks of itself as a whole, strong on its own or if it has ever seen a strand as tiny, weak, or just unnecessary.
●
If strands could be compared to real-life situations, imagine how many strands are woven into one's life.
The long strands and the short
The thick and the ones the size of a thread
All tightened and fastened into one strong rope.
.
The good and bad situations, ones that make you travel the existential crisis road, some situations where you realise you've been enlisted as one of God's strongest soldiers, again! and they make you want to search for whoever said "Everything happens for a reason" because
WHAT IS THE REASON???
Even the seemingly unnecessary strands that appear as if "Let's just belong to this rope"
Like when you're already going through a difficult situation, it could be a tough time with your academics or a toxic work environment and voilà, your phone charger decides to stop working, randomly.
The frustration that would make you question the object,
"What exactly do you hope to achieve by doing this?"
.
Well, I don't have all the answers, but thinking about it now, the more strands, the stronger the rope.
Only strong ropes last. They do not snap when stretched. Only strong ropes are capable of holding things together without fail.
●
OKAYYY THEN!!!!
How many more strands do we need to become the strongest?
Because these situations don't just happen, they pull at your emotions, tug at your mental well-being, and even your whole sense of self-worth.
●
I didn't like the answer too; There is no end to strength.
A rope can only become stronger and stronger, enough to hold a bundle of sticks together today, and then to anchor a boat to a dock tomorrow. Holding it steady against storms and waves.
As much as we may dislike tough situations, those strands become necessary. If you're strong enough to keep going today, despite all odds, it's as a result of the things you have endured and survived. The muscles are invisible but they are there.
●
On a lighter note, I like to think of life as a video game. You gain more "XP points" and new gears whenever you make it past each hard level. Those new levels of strength and equipment are necessary to make it through the next level, which will be even more difficult.
Funny, but it helps me get by.
●
So, every strand carries a little strength of its own. Woven together, they become the strongest rope.
Unfortunately, life never runs out of strands.
The good news is that neither do we.
